What inspired the creation of your poetry collection, Reborn Fragile?

This is a collection of poetry amassed throughout the years, fears, and tears of my life.

Can you tell the community a bit about your creative journey as a poet?

I write what I write. I’ve never spent much time reading “how-tos” on writing. Uninspired writing… Could there be anything worse? Not in my book.

Name some themes that are prevalent in your book.

The very general themes of love, life, death, and relationships.

Outside of your current book, who/what is your main muse?

God and all of creation, really. Anything that moves me, as a writer, into the realm of the intensely personal.

Poet’s creative processes vary quite a bit. What’s yours like?

For me, the creative process must be inspired. Obviously, there is a crafting component to my works, but nothing that I write is ever outright contrived. Writing is surely cathartic and therapeutic, as well. I generally welcome and embrace my feelings and emotions (good or bad) throughout the creative process, from beginning to glorious (or bitter) end. ๐Ÿ™‚

Excellent! Before we officially wrap things up here, is there anything you’d like to say to whoever is reading this interview?

I was going to mention that I’m also a singer-songwriter.

A multi-faceted creative mind! ๐Ÿ™‚ That’s wonderful. I’ll post the links to your music and poetry website below. Thank you very much for speaking with me, Jason!

As a spoken word poet, she has also had the opportunity to collaborate with numerous musicians across the globe. Currently, Evy is the Founding Editor of Poehemian Press and runs the decade-young poetry website (formerly The Artistic Muse). Additionally, she is the author of several independently and locally published poetry books, including "Esoterra" and "Sacred Shapes." Furthermore, she works as a full-time freelance writer and editor. In 2012, Evy received a Bachelor of Arts degree (honors) in Creative Writing from Cleveland State University. She also obtained a Diploma (distinction) in Exercise Nutrition from Shaw Academy four years later. When she's not creating, Evy Zen recharges her batteries by reading her weight in books ("The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho is her personal favorite), going on epic bike rides, meditating to ambient music, and racing super cars behind the safety of her computer or TV screen.
