Jack Joya, Creator of Deadly Graphic Studio, is a Gothic and Horror-inspired Artist based in Northern California.

EX: Tell me about your creative journey.

JJ: BEEN DOING ART FOR OVER 30 YEARS. WAS BORN IN 1964. I WAS ALWAYS DRAWN TOWARDS HORROR FILMS AND COMIC BOOKS AT AN EARLY AGE.

What are some of your current projects?

I OWN DEADLY GRAPHIC STUDIO. I HAVE BEEN BUSY IN THE PAST, YOU CAN SEE MY ART IN COMIC BOOKS, T-SHIRT DESIGNS, FILM PRODUCTION, AND TATTOO DESIGNS.

MY NEXT PROJECT COMING UP: AN ILLUSTRATED CHILDREN’S BOOK.

ILLUSTRATED BOOKS OF FRANKENSTEIN AND DRACULA.

I’M WORKING ON GETTING MY ART LICENSED BY SOME BIG COMPANY. NOTHING IN STONE YET. ALSO BEEN WORKING WITH SOMEONE IN INDIA ON A SCI-FI TV SHOW! 

I’M DISABLED FROM CANCER AND A STROKE. JUST STARTING TO GET BACK INTO THE WORK AFTER BEING SICK FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS. THIS IS MY LAST CHANCE AT DOING SOMETHING WITH MY ART. 

What inspires you to create?

PEOPLE AND THINGS THAT INSPIRE ME:
JACK KIRBY, WALLY WOOD, FRANK FRAZETTA, PUNK ROCK, ROCK & ROLL, HORROR COMICS FROM THE 1950’S, WARREN HORROR MAGAZINE OF THE 1970’S, FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND… IT WAS ONE OF WARREN MAGS THAT CHANGED MY LIFE!

ALSO… UNIVERSAL HORROR, HAMMER FILMS, GOTHIC WRITING, AND HP LOVECRAFT IS A BIG FAVORITE OF MINE. YOU CAN SEE IMAGES OF HIS MYTHOS IN MY ART.

What are some of your artistic goals?

MY GOAL FOR MY ART IS TO MAKE IT ACCESSIBLE EVERYWHERE!
